Tips for a Great Show
Pick your date and times. Keep in mind that mothers with children have to work around tight schedules. Consider times that coordinate with mothers-day-out or daycare programs.
Make a list of friends and relatives. Best results are achieved with invitation lists of 200 or more.
Mail your Show Invitations 2 weeks ahead.
Give everyone a call a couple of days before your trunk show. If a customer cannot attend, offer her the opportunity to stop by at an alternate time.
For special customers, you may provide a "sneak peak" event to give your customers one-on-one shopping without the crowds.
Know your product! When the trunk arrives look through each item and familiarize yourself with the different patterns and fabrics available. Thoroughly review the catalog, order forms and show notes. You may have a tendency to start your own order form, be patient, the more you know about the items the better prepared you will be for your guest when they arrive.
Your friends and guest will look toward you for advice in designing the custom clothes for their children.
Display & Organize! Display the clothing, grouping boy and girls items together, in open, well lit areas of your house. You don't need fancy display racks; simply hang on window sills, hat racks or other items in your home. Be sure to regularly straighten up the samples throughout the day. Keeping the clothing well displayed for the customer is very important. Create an orders desk or table. Have a good supply of order forms, pens, and calculators available for writing orders. As a hostess, be sure to check each invoice before the customer leaves.
Rest! A positive, upbeat attitude will make a difference. If you are excited about the trunk showing and all the options, they will be too!
Be sure to have fun!
